We are particularly excited to announce the publication of the UT 150th History, a book by Peter Barber, that will be presented on the 16th of October at the Swiss Embassy, followed by a drinks reception with Ticinese wines, kindly sponsored by Matasci Vini.
This History is no mere update of the one published in 1999. It incorporates important information and images, particularly about the club’s earliest years, that have only recently come to light. Its themes of solidarity and conflict, personal and collective identity, paternalism and welfare, played out to a backdrop of social change and British life and conventions have a relevance going far beyond the club. It should interest anyone interested in the history and development of immigrant communities in this country.
Books can be preordered for £10 per copy (+P&P if applicable)
Registration to the event is free, but we need to know numbers and names of all guests for logistics and Embassy security.
All profit from the book sale will go toward the Vittorio Abate Fund, supporting the conservation of the historical UT graves.
